President Trump seeks to increase domestic production.
President Donald Trump has directed the Commerce Department to investigate the U.S. copper industry to determine whether tariffs could support an increase in domestic copper production. Copper and copper alloys are essential for a variety of military technologies, and the White House maintains that relying on foreign copper production compromises national security.
“Like our steel and aluminum industries, our great American copper industry has been decimated by global actors attacking our domestic production,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated. “To build back our copper industry, I will investigate the imposition of possible tariffs. Tariffs can help build back our American copper industry if necessary and strengthen our national defense.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
